Every Saturday from 2-4pm at the Forest Haven Center for Dance and Music, there is an open dance jam based in creative process and somatics. This jam is open to anyone with or without dance experience interested in moving within a community of supportive and encouraging modern dancers. We welcome musicians and other artists to bring their craft and jam with us.

Hello friends: again we are meeting this Saturday and spending an hour dancing, sharing improv energy. Please come join us for some creative sharing time with the possibility of eventual choreographic performances.
Facilitated by Diana Domoracki-Kisto and Melissa West.
The inspiration and motivation to keep improvising, choreographing, and dancing continues thanks to Staten Island dance friends (Erin Sullivan and Jen Varriano). A continuing thread of the Staten Island Modern Festival.
A weekly DanceJam continues every Saturday at Forest Haven Center for Dance and Music (358 Forest Ave.)
If you are a Staten Island dancer, you are welcome to join us from 3-4pm to continue in the modern “tradition” of Anna Halprin, Liz Lerman, the early Judson Dance group…..tradition
NOT.
Melissa West is a key inspiration to start this local project. Come DANCE, serious and playfully. We are creating and making dances for eventual performance venues in NYC.

Brendan Coyle presents scroll drawings, original pages from his comic books in the Mustard Man series, and projections of his performance art and sculptures. The night will culminate in one lucky raffle-winner receiving a custom-designed tattoo flash from the artist.
Bands will perform beginning at 9:00, including Davey Crockett and Audiometry.

May 12th- LUXURY @ 4 Saint Paul’s, featuring JULIA ARVAY
Julia’s creations are dual-natured.In one regard, her bilateral paintings are the eye-popping results of meticulous experimentation in geometry and color. The other, more abstract element at play is a devotion to repetition and ‘unnecessary abundance’; the better to emphasize the subjectivity of the material value we humans place on so-called objects of beauty.
Her subjects vary: jewelry, clocks, chairs, high heels, rugs, chandeliers and women’s lingerie are all utilized and exploited through the artist’s various methods. What makes Julia’s works memorable, however, are the frightening patterns underlying much of her deceptively attractive scenery. Paintings such as “Chairs” and “Bras” repeat images of luxury items until they resemble not so much the original object as they do unchecked cellular growth and mutation.
The Gallery at 4 Saint Paul’s is extremely proud and fortunate to host Julia Arvay this spring, and we cordially invite you to visit her thought-provoking works. The LUXURY exhibit is curated by Sabrina Hamilton and Kira Yustak.
